In the early 20th century the Santa Fe Railroad built special lines to the Grand Canyon and constructed the famous El Tovar Hotel and various other amenities for travelers. This led to a marked increase in tourist traffic to the canyon. Written for these new tourists, this guidebook includes information on how to reach the canyon by train, which trails to hike and sections on the canyon's geological and human history. It also contains numerous illustrations of points of interest and maps of the area.
